Biography

Andrew Gendi was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but was raised in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas. He graduated from Clear Brook High School in 2013 where he played football and track, and received one of three Outstanding Students Awards for his class. He went on to attend Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) in Arkansas on football and academic scholarships. As a student at OBU, Andrew was a member of the President’s List, and Dean’s List. He was a charter member and Vice President of OBU’s Pre-Law Society, and was the Vice President of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. On the football field, Andrew started at Noseguard as a true freshman and started in over 40 games. He helped OBU make a run at the Division II National Playoffs, win a conference championship, and he received multiple Academic All-Conference awards for his efforts in the classroom.

After college, Andrew attended the Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock, Texas where he quickly realized his passion for criminal defense and trial work. At Tech Law, Andrew was a member of the Dean’s List, he was a 1L Mock Trial quarter-finalist, an Advanced Moot Court semi-finalist, Vice President of the Criminal Law Association, and he was a student attorney in Texas Tech’s very selective Criminal Defense Clinic.

After graduating law school and passing the Bar, Andrew moved back home to Houston, Texas where he was an associate for Thiessen Law Firm, gaining experience valuable in defending DWI cases and misdemeanors. Andrew’s passion to grow and learn as a trial lawyer soon brought him to the Felony Trial Division of the Harris County Public Defender’s Office. In just over a year as a public defender, Andrew represented 72 clients from start to finish on over 100 felony charges, with 47% of his cases resulting in a dismissal.

Andrew understands that his clients are often going through the most difficult times of their lives. Andrew prides himself on his attention to detail and advocacy skills. He listens to his clients, communicates with them every step of the way, and fights to achieve the best possible outcome on every case.
